Avencia are partnered with a leading global insurer who are looking to hire a Trade Credit Underwriter to join their team in London.

The role offers a blend of both risk and commercial underwriting, with exposure to a broad portfolio of corporate and banking clients across multiple territories and sectors.

Key responsibilities
- Underwriting new and existing Trade Credit risks across a diverse portfolio
- Supporting the growth and development of broker and client relationships
- Conducting detailed financial and credit analysis on submissions
- Assessing trade and export finance risks, including single risk and whole turnover business
- Preparing and presenting underwriting submissions for peer review
- Negotiating policy terms and conditions
- Supporting portfolio management, retention and profitability targets
- Working closely with senior underwriters and business development teams on strategic growth initiatives
- Engaging directly with brokers, banks and insureds across the market
Skills and experience
- Experience within Trade Credit, Political Risk, Surety, Banking or a related financial risk environment
- Strong financial analysis and credit assessment skills
- Understanding of risk underwriting principles across different sectors and territories
- Commercial mindset with the ability to build strong market relationships
- Exposure to trade finance, export finance or structured credit risks would be advantageous
- Knowledge of country risk and insolvency considerations is beneficial
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Interest in innovation and the use of technology/AI within underwriting
