Avencia are partnered with a leading insurer who are looking to recruit an Assistant Underwriter in their Dublin office. The role is part of a dynamic and growing underwriting team and will predominantly focus on Property business.

Key accountabilities

Support the pre-underwriting process, reviewing historical performance, policy wordings and pricing adequacy in line with company guidelines.

Take ownership of underwriting package preparation, ensuring all details are complete before handover to the Underwriter.

Provide insightful management information to the EEA Deputy CUO, helping track portfolio exposure and performance against plan.

Collaborate with Underwriters by attending broker and client meetings, delivering clear follow-up actions.

Work closely with the Analytics team to ensure all relevant data is accurate and accessible.

Maintain a high standard of data accuracy and completeness across all systems.

Carry out pre-analysis on submissions, endorsements and other documents, supporting efficient underwriting decisions.

Assist with post-bind sign-off processes and resolve underwriting queries from Operations teams.

Contribute to ad-hoc projects and initiatives, supporting the wider business where needed.
Skills & experience

Hold a university degree or an equivalent insurance qualification (e.g. ACII, CPCU).

Bring a minimum of 2-3 years’ (re)insurance experience in a broking or underwriting environment.

Possess strong knowledge of commercial insurance and relevant regulatory requirements.

Be highly proficient in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Standard.

Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
