Actuarial Operations Analyst

Avencia are partnered with a leading insurer and Fortune 500 company who are looking to recruit an Actuarial Analyst as part of their Actuarial Operations team.

This is an excellent opportunity for junior insurance candidates with an understanding of actuarial concepts to join a supportive team, with lots of investment from the business and opportunities to really grow and develop your career.

The team offer hybrid working (2 days in the office) with Thursday being the core team day.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of actuarial models, systems, and processes
  • Run routine model processes, prepare data, and perform validation checks to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Develop an understanding of the actuarial modelling environment, tools, and documentation standards
  • Act as a reliable support and backup for key operational actuarial activities
  • Build and enhance your technical skillset (Python, R, SQL, VBA, etc.) through automation and optimisation work
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen controls
  • Support the adoption of new technologies, including AI and automation, within actuarial operations
  • Contribute to wider actuarial initiatives such as system enhancements, model updates, and data quality improvements

Skills & experience

  • 1-2 years’ experience in an actuarial or analytical role, or a recent graduate with strong quantitative foundations
  • Currently studying towards, or keen to begin, a recognised actuarial qualification (full study support and funding provided)
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with an interest in modelling, systems, and operational actuarial work
  • An interest in coding, automation, and process improvement (any programming experience is advantageous)
  • Highly detail-oriented and organised, with the ability to follow structured processes while understanding the wider context
  • A collaborative team player with clear and confident communication skills
  • Curious, adaptable, and open to learning new technologies, including AI
