Avencia are partnered with a leading insurer to recruit an Assistant Underwriter within their Livestock team.

Key responsibilities
- Solve a wide range of problems, both large and small, with a proactive approach to finding improved solutions
- Continuously identify opportunities to enhance processes, relationships, and technology
- Communicate effectively via phone, email, and face-to-face meetings, ensuring clear and efficient information flow
- Adapt to a dynamic environment where priorities may shift and no two days are the same
- Collaborate with brokers, clients, and internal teams to gather and verify information and support commercial underwriting decisions
- Develop and implement action plans aligned with broader team and business objectives

Skills & experience
Essential
- Strong problem-solving skills, particularly within a business context

- Excellent communication skills across multiple platforms

- Self-motivated with a results-driven approach

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Good standard of numeracy, including confidence working with percentages, ratios, and basic statistical concepts
Desirable
- Experience in underwriting, broking, or claims (any class of business considered)
- Knowledge of policy wording and contract analysis
- Experience drafting or reviewing policy wordings
- Track record of supporting or developing new business opportunities
