Exciting opportunity to work for a growing Specialty Insurer who are seeking a Livestock Underwriter to join a specialist underwriting team focused on delivering profitable growth within the livestock insurance market.
This is an exciting opportunity to further develop your technical expertise, working alongside experienced underwriting professionals. You support the profitable growth of the portfolio while building strong relationships with brokers, clients and market stakeholders.
The successful candidate will combine strong analytical and underwriting capabilities with excellent communication skills, a collaborative approach and a desire to continue developing their specialist market knowledge.
The role
As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting livestock risks within your authority levels and maintaining high underwriting standards across both new and renewal business.
You will work closely with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders to assess risks, develop underwriting solutions and deliver excellent service whilst contributing to the success and growth of the livestock portfolio.
Key accountabilities
Underwriting & Portfolio Management
- Underwrite and service new business and renewals for the Livestock account.
- Assess risk exposures, pricing and coverage requirements using available underwriting tools and market information.
- Support the profitable growth and development of the livestock portfolio.
- Maintain accurate underwriting records and document underwriting rationale and decisions.
Broker & Client Relationships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients.
- Deliver a high standard of service and responsiveness to trading partners.
- Communicate underwriting appetite and solutions effectively.
- Attend client meetings, market events and industry conferences where appropriate.
Technical Development
- Develop expertise in livestock risks, coverage structures and policy wordings.
- Review and assess policy documentation and underwriting criteria alongside relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute technical knowledge and support discussions on underwriting matters.
Projects, Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across underwriting and wider business functions.
- Support underwriting and business improvement initiatives.
- Participate in team, branch and wider organisational projects as required.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.
Skills & experience
- Experience gained within an underwriting role with demonstrable knowledge of livestock business and coverage design.

- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
